Indiana Marriage License FAQ
Where to apply
You can apply for a marriage license in Indiana if one person is a resident of the local county. If neither of you lives in Indiana, you can still get a license if your ceremony will occur in Floyd, Clark, Marion, or similar counties. Both parties must be present to apply together in person at the local County Clerk’s Office.
Marriage license fees
Indiana Residents: The fee is $20 for the initial application.
Out-of-State Residents: If both of you live outside Indiana but will marry in Floyd, Clark, or Marion counties, the fee is $62, payable in cash only.
Required documents – bring one of the following for each person:
A valid government-issued ID with your birth date and current address

You must be at least 18 to marry without special consent.
If one person is 17, they must apply with a parent or legal guardian, who will need to sign the consent section of the application.
A court petition is required for those 16 or younger, as specified in Indiana law (I.C.31-11-1-6).
Blood test
Indiana no longer requires a blood test to apply for a marriage license.
